Hi! My name is Lena and I am a Registered Social Worker in British Columbia (#09223).
I have the pleasure of walking alongside children and their families as they navigate many different life transitions.
My focus is on holding space for people to connect to and express their true selves.
I recognize that it takes a lot to reach out for support. I would be honoured to have
the opportunity to work with you. You are not alone. I am confident that after our time together comes to an end, you will have the confidence and tools to manage more easily as you continue along your journey.
I welcome you to contact me for an initial free consultation to answer any questions you may have.
I hold a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology from McMaster University. During my degrees, my research focused on coping styles amongst child caregivers and treating autism through behavioural intervention. I think of myself as a life-long learner, with continued training in:
I have traveled and worked alongside individuals in many different countries and am passionate about connecting with those from a variety of backgrounds.
I have been providing support to children, youth and families for over 20 years, with experience collaborating with schools, childcares, ministry teams, community organizations and extended families.
I believe that supporting a child means supporting the entire family system.
My expertise lies in supporting children who present with complex behaviour and those with neuro-diversities, their siblings and caregivers.
I have also worked with young people and families in their management of depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, and in adjustment to multiple diagnoses.
In addition to therapeutic support, I do skills training and practice in emotional literacy, self compassion, mindfulness and regulation strategies with both young people and parents.
I offer both online and in-person child and family counselling sessions. Additionally, I offer psychoeducation and training/workshops to parents, community members and school teams to support inclusion, a deeper understanding of a child’s diagnosis, and to better understand children who are presenting with concerning behaviour.
I have experience supporting families using autism funding through the Autism Funding Unit (AFU)
